HUT Onboarding

A complete guide to setting up your first website with the web services team.

Getting Started

Before you can get started on this amazing journey you need to have a dotCMS account. The support team should have already emailed you your username and password to login to the system.

If you have not received an email, please contact your Web Project Manager (WPM). Your WPM can submit a request through the service cart for your permissions to be added dotCMS.

Host Creation

Before we can start adding content we need to create our host. The host you'll copy for all of your HUT builds is unified-copy-host.prod.ehc.com. If this is a redesign, you'll name the host similar to the old one. However, if this is a new site build we just simply use the desired domain name appended with -hut.prod.ehc.com.

Redesign Example

A redesign for hcavirginia.com has come through our web request. Here is how we would name the new host:

  • Old Host - hcavirginia.com
  • New Host - hcavirginia-hut.prod.ehc.com

The reason we add the -hut to the name is because there could be an alias of hcavirginia.prod.ehc.com. If we used that it would redirect to the live site.

New Site Example

A new site request has come in for Austin Heart. The client wants the desired URL: austinheart.com. The host URL should look like this:

  • austinheart-hut.prod.ehc.com

Note: Hosts will have "Aliases." Aliases serve as redirects for other domains that might be affiliated with this host. Please watch the video walkthrough to get more information.

Entity Branding

Now that the host is created we need to give the site its styles. Entity Branding is something our team developed in order to be able to centralize HCA's various brands. We can make changes to a branding and then those changes are distributed to multiple places where that brand is being used. Entity Branding is a big part of but not limited to HUT (Healthcare Unified Template), MyHealth Direct (Online Scheduling), HCAPS (Physician Practices), and etc...

EHC has default gray colors that are used in various apps, widgets and appStacks. They are soft gray colors that compliment the branding colors that will be chosen for each site (see example of each below).

Images

All images need to be optimized for the web. This means that images should be 72dpi and shouldn't have large file sizes. In addition, logos need to be in their horizontal format with no white space around the logo (edge to edge). The image sizes have been provided below.

  • Entity Picture Small - 250 x 154px
  • Entity Picture Standard - 1000 x 618px
  • Full Color Logo - 450px wide
  • Knock Out Logo - 450px wide
  • SVG Logo - 450px wide (Mobile Use Only)

Fonts

The fonts used in Entity Branding are Google Fonts. You can chose which fonts you want to use for the headings and body. Also, your able to pick the weights of those fonts.

Note: When deciding on establishing the colors please refer to the color guide as a reference as to how the colors are used. In addition, you can quickly reference division brands with our new Entity Branding Search Tool. This new tool allows users to view their brand as a whole and make sure they're being consistent.

Facilities & Buildings

Once you've either created or found your Entity Branding, you'll need to create a default Facility and Building. Every site you work on will always have one default Facility and Building related to one another.

Ideally the default Facility and Building is the main locations information. If you have multiple locations you still need to set a default but all other locations can be added to the Building Structure (no facility required).
